Nan Joyner and Julia Joyner are sisters - The Joyner Sisters - who write stories where the horror is structural: embedded in the rules of the institutions, land, and systems that shape us long before we understand what they are.

Together, the sisters co-write The Night Shift, following night-shift nurse Paige through five books of medical-institutional dread — the hospital as living structure, its corridors and unwritten hierarchies as much a character as anyone in scrubs.
